Travel Itinerary From Hue To DMZ By Car
Your round trip Hue to DMZ by car begins with a warm pickup from your hotel by our friendly and experienced driver. Along the way, you’ll explore some of the most iconic historical sites in Vietnam’s DMZ region:
Horror Highway (The Street of Horror) – On May 1, 1972, this stretch of Highway 1, about 10 km south of Quang Tri City, witnessed tragic loss of life during intense artillery and infantry attacks. Thousands of civilians and soldiers were killed, leaving a deep mark in local memory.
Long Hung Church – Traveling south on Highway 1A, you’ll see this church, built in 1955-56 with reinforced concrete. Despite heavy damage in 1972, it stands as a testament to the courage of North Vietnamese defenders who held it for 81 days under heavy attack.

Doc Mieu Firebase – Located 8 km south of the Ben Hai River, this former American base was part of the “McNamara Line.” Today, it is occasionally visited by American veterans and historians searching for MIAs, with remnants of Vietnamese soldiers still found.
Hien Luong Bridge – Once destroyed by bombing in 1967, the original bridge was painted half red and half yellow, symbolizing the division between North and South Vietnam.

Vinh Moc Tunnels – An incredible underground village built on three levels with ventilation, wells, a generator, school, clinics, and even a maternity room where 17 children were born. Each family had a tiny living space, showcasing remarkable ingenuity and resilience.

Khe Sanh Combat Base – A major Marine base attacked in early 1968. On the way, you’ll stop at Dakrong Bridge, a key part of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and see Rockpile Hill, a US military observation post overseeing North Vietnamese movements.

After visiting all these destinations, your driver will safely return you to your hotel in Hue, ensuring a comfortable and memorable journey.

EXCELLENT Based on 2678 reviews Posted on Dave PVerified Day trip to The Imperial City of Hue We had a lovely day today with Justine (our guide) and the driver, for the trip from Chan May Port to Hue, and the Imperial City. They met us on time, where you said that they would be, the car was clean and the air conditioning worked. They gave us bottled water. Justine explained the day and we set off. Justine queued for the tickets where needed and gave us detailed information at all the sites, not hurrying us along. Justine took lots of pictures of us, and was able to answer questions. The restaurant was lovely, the food very good, and they were aware of our request that my wife is a vegetarian. They even stopped for us to get some toiletries on the way back and he assisted us across a very busy road to the shop. A really good day.Posted on Emil KVerified Can recommend - great experience! Fantastic transfer with Luyt from VM Travel - kind, knowledgable and experienced driver. Kim from the company helped us out a bunch as well - we even got to store our bags at the office while waiting for our train in Hue.Posted on Lisa AVerified Reliable, friendly, all round excellent. Alex was a great driver, lovely to be met by his smiling face at the train station. Sadly a violent tropical storm meant some changes to the plan but he worked hard to keep us dry and away from any hard sell where we stopped.Posted on Pablo MVerified Good experience Alex was super punctual and friendly, drives very quietly and very well, made extra stops to take some photos, highly recommendedPosted on Swati NVerified Exceptional Service – Highly Recommend! I had an excellent experience with VM Travel during my stay in Vietnam. I first contacted them through the chat option on their website and received a quick and helpful response. As a solo traveller, I really appreciated how flexible and accommodating they were. My day trips were tailored entirely around my preferences. Both day tours were reasonably priced, and there were no issues with late drop-offs or pickups from my remote hotel location.A special mention to Mr Top, my driver for both days, who was friendly, professional, and reliable. The office staff, Jena, coordinating everything was equally outstanding — responsive, organised, and genuinely caring.Highly recommend their service for anyone looking for stress-free and pre-set or customised tours in Vietnam!Posted on Jason SVerified Day drive from Hue to My Son, via Hai Van Pass Very careful and excellent driver. Was helpful and attentive. Arrived early and helped with check out, waited while I went to My Son and explained things well.
