Hoi An to Hue is 125 kilometers away. The two cultural cities are the most preferred destination in Central Vietnam as they are both essential to history and culture of the country. Train ride in Vietnam promises great seascape and landscape. Unfortunately, there is no Hoi An to Hue train yet. But fret not, Danang Train Station is just 30 kilometers away from the beautiful old town of Hoi An.

Hoi An to Hue train – Danang Train Station

To get to Danang Train Station from Hoi An, you can either take the bus or taxi. Taxi would cost around $15 – $30 depending on where you’re staying in Hoi An. You may bargain or simply get on a metered taxi, I suggest to get only a taxi from a trusted company  as this might get you scammed and twice or thrice the price of getting a private transfer.

Bus would be less expensive as it will only cost $5 to get to Hoi An but there is a high tendency that you will have to walk as bus companies will not drop you off in front of the train station to avoid traffic. This is very inconvenient if you are carrying several and heavy luggage under a hot and humid weather.

Danang to Hue by train will take 2 hours and 30 minutes and it would costs $16 – $27 depending on your seat. The most exciting part of the train ride is when you reach Hai Van Pass, I highly recommend to stay wide awake to get the best view of the beach, old French villas and small towns along the way. There are no stops so always get your camera ready. Note that locals prefer trains next to buses, it might get crowded and noisy inside the train throughout the trip.

If you think getting on a train from Hoi An is too much work and money, you can always get a private car transfer from Hoi An to Hue. Hassle free ride from Hoi An to Hue while enjoying quick stops on all the tourist destinations on the way.
